After quite a few delays, Google finally announced the Android 11 Beta 1 update. These updates could easily be installed on Pixel devices. Furthermore, Project Treble devices could also try it out. However, what is interesting to see is other OEMs like Oppo and Vivo joining this bandwagon. Recently we covered the Oppo Reno Find X2 series getting enrolled in this beta program. And now, Vivo has also made its presence felt. Users of the Vivo iQOO 3 4G and 5G could now install the Android 11 Beta (Android R) on their devices.
Well, to be fair, we weren’t surprised by this news. Last year as well, a bunch of Vivo devices including Vivo X27, Vivo NEX S, and Vivo NEX A welcomed the Android 10 (Q) Beta updates pretty quickly. So it seems the OEM is only continuing this tradition, which is indeed an impressive move. With that said, let’s check out what the latest Android 11 has to offer. After which we would list out the instructions set to download and install Android 11 Beta (Android R) on Vivo iQOO 3, for both the 4G and 5G variants. Let’s begin.
Android 11: What’s New
Here are some of the noteworthy features of Android 11, check it out:
Separate Notification Channels
There is now much-needed clarity in the Notification section. Up until now, the conversations from messaging apps were all messed up with the other app’s notifications. However, Google has now divided the notification sections into three different channels: Conversations, Alerting Notifications, and Silent Notifications. it is the first one that we are most interested in. Now all your messages, from any app, will be present under that section itself, segregated from the others.
Android 11 has also introduced Bubble Conversations for every messaging app. You could drag pace this bubble anywhere on the screen. Does it all sound similar? Well, it is similar to Facebook’s Messenger has to offer.
Media toggles in Quick Settings
The media toggles are now also moved to the Quick Settings. Up until now, it was present in the notification bar itself. As far as the options go, it consists of the same three: Next, Pause and Previous.
New Additions to Power Menu
There have been some pretty nifty additions to the Power Menu as well. You could now control all your smart home appliances right fro the Power menu itself. It has added the smart home control buttons on the said menu. you no longer would need to launch the Google Home app.
New Features in Recent Menu
Three new options have now made its way over to the Recents screen. These are Screenshot, Select, and Share. The first one allows you to take a screenshot of the recent app. The second one gives you the ability to select text from inside the recent apps window. Share, as the name suggests, lets you directly share the captured screenshots.
Some much-needed changes are made to Location permissions as well. You now have three options to choose from While using the app, Only this time, Deny. The second one is the new addition to the list. You could now give location permissions to any app only for one single time.
