Samsung is currently rolling out latest One UI 2.5 firmware update for the past three generations of smartphones including the Galaxy S20 series, most recently on the Galaxy S10 series, and upcoming for the Note 10/10+. While the S20 got it with August OTA, the S10 and Note 10 will receive it with September 2020 security patch level. One UI 2.5 firmware comes with all the Note 20 series features including Wireless DEX, Pro mode for camera, and much more. However, there is a big problem with the One UI 2.5. It blocks Gcam mods from running on Galaxy smartphones for some reason.
Ever since Samsung released One UI 2.5 firmware update, users have been reporting Gcam crash all of a sudden on the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra Snapdragon variants found in the United States, South Korea, and China. This may also turn out to be true for the S10 and Note 10 or all the next gen devices. Apparently, One UI 2.5 update blocks Google Camera apps from running on One UI 2.5 or even later.
Thanks to developer Arnova, the latest Gcam update has a fix to run on Samsung devices. Arnova8G2’s Gcam build Google Camera Port 5.2beta5.200901.1908build-7.5.107 fixes this problem. The changelog states – fix for the crash caused by recent updates from Samsung. So henceforth, you may need the following build by Arnova or Gcams based on it. Hopefully, more developers make use of this Gcam 7.4.104.
